Store Data to NAS

SonicDICOM PACS stores data in the path that specified by PACS Manager.
DICOM files are stored in the Data Path and Backup Path. Log files are in Log Path.
This document describes how to change store locations of DICOM files and log files to a network path.

After you install SonicDICOM PACS, SonicDICOM PACS will be registered as "DICOMApp" in Windows service.
By default, the Windows user who executes "DICOMApp" is "Local System".
With the Windows OS specifications, this default user "Local System" cannot use network path.
So in order to enable SonicDICOM PACS to use network path, you need to change the Windows user who executes "DICOMApp".
The step is as below.

1-1. Please open the Control Panel, and click Administrative Tools > Services.

1-2. Please right-click "DICOMApp" in Services, and then click "Properties".

1-3. Please click "Log On" tab, and select "This account", and then click "Browse...".

1-4. Please enter the name of Windows user who executes DICOMApp in "Enter the object name to select".
This Windows user need to have Administrator authorization.

1-5. After entering the name of Windows user, click "Check Names". If there is no problem, click "OK".

1-6. Please enter the password of Windows user that you entered just now, and then click "Apply".

1-7. Please right-click "DICOMApp" in Services, and then click "Restart".

1-8. Please change NAS settings, and then permit the Windows user access who is specified in step 1-4.

1-9. Please check whether the Windows user specified in step 1-4 can access to optional folders in NAS.

1-10. Please change store locations of files to network path by using PACS Manager.
At this time, you need to be already logged in Windows OS as the user that executes PACS Manager.

1-11. If you changed Data Path or Backup Path to network path in step 1-10, please import DICOM files and check it can be stored properly.

NOTE: If you are using Microsoft SQL Server

If you have upgraded Microsoft SQL Server Compact to Microsoft SQL Server for SonicDICOM PACS database, you need to set up additionally.
You need to add the Windows user specified in above step 1-4 and grant necessary authorizations on Microsoft SQL Server as well.

The step is as below.

Firstly, please start up Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, and click "Connect".

Please open the left pane Security > Logins.

If there is not the Windows user specified in step 1-4 in this list, please add with the following process.
If there is, please right-click the user, and click "Properties", and then continue with step 2-4.

2-1. Please open the left pane "Security" and right-click "Logins" and then click "New Login...".

2-2. Please click "Search..." in Login name window, and search the Windows user specified in step 1-4.

2-3. After entering the name of Windows user, click "Check Names". If there is no problem, click "OK".

2-4. Please click "Server Roles" on the left pane, and put a check "sysadmin".

2-5. Please select "User Mapping" on the left pane.
If "dicom" is in the database, please put a check "db_owner".
If "dicom" does not exist, you do not need do anything.

2-6. Click "OK" at the end.
